Why We Need A Modern Form of Nationhood

A nation isn’t what you have been brainwashed by a power-mad corpostate ruling class THINK it is. A nation is a body of people whose shared identity reflects a set of beliefs, values, and convictions that are the forge of a unique way of life that defines their shared purpose and destiny.

Our culture in “the West” is a culture of top-down political and corporate control that dictates standards and norms, often on the basis quack science and outlandish social theories that defy millenia of moral and fmailial orthodoxy. The corpostate ruling class decide what they want to be normal, create an avalanche of propaganda and indoctrination, punish or cancel dissent, and suppress anything and anyone that might disprove the veracity of their crackpot theories. Their aim is control, hence limiting freedom to sexual pleasure, confusing the genders, making “alt people” who don’t know up from down, undermining the notion children ought to be raised by their own biological parents with few exceptions (adoption for orphans or abandoned children), and socializing people to submit to manufactured “scientific consensus.”

Division, hatred, destruction of advanced cultural norms (e.g. faith, marriage, family, and community), lack of civility, suppression and censorship against dissent, cancel culture weirdness, and the such are hallmarks of a spiritually and morally backwards, archaic, and savage culture more reminiscent of a wild band of angry gorillas than any human community. Trust is replaced with fear, discourse is replaced with forced “consensus”, and even economic wealth is pillaged to distribute more to the lazy and the uber rich.

What is our “nation” as Americans, Europeans, Germans, Africans, Igbo, and etc.? What defines your nation, be it your citizenship (e.g. as an American or a Nigerian) or your ethnic/tribal nationality (e.g. Irish-American in the US or Igbo in Nigeria)? What is the dividing line of differentiation from being a member of your nation or being able to say someone who claims your national identity isn’t of that nationality?

Nationhood, as we are using the term, is that quality of being identified with a national identity that guides and governs your behavior and the way you treat others in such a way that you are easily and instantly able to connect and collaborate with most all fellow “nationals.” Nationhood can both allow for easy connections and provide a boundary by which you can protect the integrity of who and what you deem yourself to be. Nationhood, because it is strictly voluntary, allows you to differentiate yourself and to FAVOR others who share your beliefs and values without disconnecting from the larger community, being hostile to others, or needing in any way to use the coercion of political states or mega corporations (the corpostate) to impose your lifestyle on others.

Through a new approach to nationhood as a concept and a practice of creating communities of trust at scale, we can build a life in freedom and prosperity based on our values without in any way interfering with or becoming in any way hostile toward others outside our national community. This new approach makes nationhood a sociocultural and mutual benefit association between potentially vast numbers of people, something more like a fraternal or mutual benefit society, a “friendly society”, than any sort of political state. A modern form of voluntary and international nationhood would be like giving fraternal benefit societies based on some form of nationality a status like a tribe and granting any lands owned by their society something like a tribal homeland status but autonomously within an existing political state.

Regardless of legal status, a modern form of voluntary nationhood could be created among willing people as a sort of freewill participatory association using informal and formal structures based on local laws.

Nationhood is not nationalism. Differentiation by freewill participation is not jingoism. Loving and protecting your way of life is not hating others or their way of a life. A vast political state like the USA could nurture a pluralism of many diverse national communities, all with their own autonomous sociocultural and socioeconomic structures, while absolutely upholding the equal rights and well-being of every single citizen or resident in the land.

Those who would oppose legal forms and protections for this more modern and enlightened form of nationhood are exposing their own authoritarianism. Not wanting to leave people in peace to pursue their desired way of life and to create their own communities of trust is prima facie evidence of a more totalitarian and less tolerant bent.

Regardless of anything else, our right to use nationhood as a way to unify with others and build communities of trust is something we own from our Creator. We can do this and we need no approval or even understanding from others. Whoever understands and desires the form of nationhood you embrace can form connections and associations based on that and nobody has any right to deny this to them.

Nationhood is both a new concept that enables us to make easier connections for mutual benefit for others and an ancient idea that presages the 17th to 20th century centralized “nation-state” with its authoritarianism and aggression toward others. Nationhood in ancient days was a form of spiritual connection in which all “nationals” were mutually obliged to support one another, albeit never forced (it is a moral and voluntary mutual obligation).

Back then to the concept of modern nationhood versus our present understanding or use of nationality. What, for instance, defines whatever your nationality is? What, for instance, makes an American, just living in the US, being a citizen, or a set of shared ideals? We propose that nationhood must be differentiated, in other words there has to be a way to say who is or isn’t qualified to call themselves a peer of that nation.

Let’s be careful. Unlike nationality in a more archaic 20th century context, nationhood isn’t divisive or hostile toward others. A pluralistic society could have multiple nations of people, each distinct, who are part of a larger civilizational paradigm that embraces them all equally. Distinctiveness and differentiation is not division and it isn’t hostile toward others because it views people of a different nationhood as part of the same civilization and/or country.

So can we intentionally CREATE a new nationhood, a new nationality based on explicitly shared ideals and principles, to protect our own sociocultural autonomy and develop our own economic and other structures for mutual benefit? We say we can and we must!

The first adopters of this concept will tower above the vast masses of ruling class thugs, their cohorts (second-class “rulers”), collaborators, and fearful slaves who labor away under this authoritarian system. Nationhood cannot be outlawed or suppressed, if it is persecuted it is only going to get stronger and stronger and in persecuting this nationality the authorities undermine their own legitimacy. Through nationhood vast numbers of people can overwhelm the more authoritarian structures and get over and around all the artificial constraints on their freedom.

Let’s be clear: individual self-reliance is meaningless in an authoritarian situation. If you cannot count on the support and aid of a larger community of people who have a right connection, you are easy prey to intimidation. Our novel concept of intentional nationhood is able to easily connect vast numbers of people without formal organization being necessary. Through this, when you meet a fellow “national” who claims this identity and who can articulate the things that define this identity, you can know they are most likely to be trustworthy.

Of course, there is more to building trust than claiming a shared national identity. That being said, knowing this other person shares your intentional nationhood may get you 70% of the way toward trust, which offers a huge advantage! What is more, if and when you FIND such people, and a virtual platform based on this vision of modern nationhood can make that possible, and decide they can be trusted, the ideals and etc. that define your nationhood offer a ready-made track upon which you can develop cooperative and mutually beneficial arrangements and informal to formal associations.

This is the value of a more modern form of nationhood: it provides a way to connect and build trust with people who deeply share your values and whose interests align with your own. Through nationhood, we can find people we may never otherwise find who would happily share in mutual self-interest and who would warmly accept and support us as we pursue our dreams and ambitions.

Our form of nationhood is based on the four core ideals of Christian civilization which include a Biblical understanding of Unity in diversity, Popular sovereignty, Democratic equality, and Rule of law applied evenly and cohesively. From the UPDR and our more modern and de-politicized version of these ideals, we adopt both the name of that new civilization and of our nation, as a vanguard people of that new civilization, which is UPaDaRia, spelled “Upadaria.”

These are new concepts, even if they are forged in our understanding of Kingdom essentials, historic Christian moral and doctrinal orthodoxy, and ancient ways that the 20th century nation-state in particular undermined and eliminated from society, much to everyone’s harm. These are voluntary concepts, you can take them or leave them, but nobody and no entity has any authority or jurisdiction to prevent others from using these concepts and building their own sociocultural and socioeconomic structures around them on the voluntary basis of freewill participation.

Nationhood is our key to unlocking new ways to connect and collaborate with others in a way that both respects and preserves the beliefs, values, and convictions we desire to pass on to future generations. If people anywhere in the world adopt our particular nationhood, calling themselves nationals or peers of Upadaria, a spiritual nation whose God is the Lord, they can readily know that anyone they meet who shares that identity has a 70% or greater chance to be trusted.

Other forms of nationhood are equally valuable, especially if their ideals and etc are truthful, positive, and fruitful to those who adopt them. In the free marketplace of ideas that ought to prevail in a pluralistic society, those forms of nationhood that are not fruitful will not endure and the more fruitful versions will attract more people, thus causing their communities and other structures to flourish.

Nationhood is a new concept with ancient roots that can be used right now to shield yourself, through facilitating mutual self-reliance and support, from the effects of a morally backwards and authoritarian system that is in denial of basic human dignity and human rights.
