Is Chris Coons a reverse Robin Hood in democrat clothing?  Delaware Left accuses Chris Coons of soaking the poor and paying off the rich in a bad example of good government practices.
Green Delaware, A left-leaning, ‘good government’ activist site, may have just run the best reason why Independents, and even democrats should not vote for Chris Coons in the upcoming Delaware Senate Race, the current County Executive of New Castle County, Delaware.
Apparently, while the Political Class in the media attempt character assassination with Christine O’Donnell , they are missing some very real issues which speak to the very heart of the Coons candidacy, government integrity.  At a time when less Americans support Congress than support lowering the speed limit to 50 mph, this latest assault from within Chris Coons’ own base is more telling than any character assassination attempt in today’s voter climate.  From Green Delaware, here is the crucial quote that warrants second and third looks by the voters of Delaware;

Lets look at the other side:  The Democratic candidate is Chris Coons.  Coons, as I’ve written more than once, is a cockroach.  His term as New Castle County Executive has been marked by harassment of citizens and servility to developers and polluters.  He does a good-cop/bad-cop shuffle with Council President Paul Clark, but the two represent the same interests.”Paul Clark and Chris Coons evidently have some explaining to do to the Delaware Voters.  Why would Chris Coons stop his pandering to the Ruling Class money-holders if he becomes Senator of Delaware?  At the national level, the money handlers will have far more attractive offers for the venal Coons than the local Ruling Class can offer him at the county level. The Ruling Class Czar of New Castle County had recently proposed the largest tax hike in Delaware History the year before re-election.

From http://delawarelibertarian.blogspot.com/2009/03/new-castle-county-executive-chris-coons.html ,

On the heels of Wilmington Mayor Baker’s promise that the city government will raise “taxes, fees, and anything we can”, now comes blow # 2 to the double-taxed Wilmington residents, as well as a blow to all other home and property owners in New Castle County : a WHOPPING 25% increase in property tax rates.

Coons Seeks 25% Property Tax Hike
The News-Journal March 18, 2009

If approved by County Council, the tax hike would be the second biggest in county history and would raise an extra $21 million to help balance the $234 million budget for the 2010 fiscal year that begins July 1.

The average annual property tax bill would rise by about $100 to $501. Coons’ spending plan also calls for a 10 percent increase in sewer fees.

The overall budget reflects the impact of the recession, particularly in housing. The county has depended heavily for years on a share of the statewide real estate transfer tax to balance its budget. Revenues from that tax have plummeted as home sales swooned.

“I think we’ve just gone overboard — we’ve overspent,” said civic leader Frances West, noting that residents will have to adjust to having less. “It’s like raising kids. If you give them luxuries and then take them away, they’re not going to be happy.
Coons’ spending plan would trim personnel costs by $4.8 million, an amount he said could be achieved by laying off 75 to 100 employees.
More from this site on Chris Coons’ own personal finances:

He is a personally very-rich Democrat, freshly-re-elected, making a tidy 6-figure paycheck on the public’s backs while trying to carve himself out an incumbency career in Delaware politics.

Property taxes are but pocket change to someone as wealthy as Coons. Coons lives at 2301 Delaware Avenue in a nearly-4200 square foot, 6-bedroom, 4-bath stone mansion that sits on nearly half an acre of land in the high-dollar Highlands neighborhood in Wilmington. To give you a sense of the value, the property sold in 1981 for $225,000.00. Of course, what Coons paid for it is masked by a deed that cleverly states a purely-nominal sale price of $ 10.

The democratic party is supposed to be the party of the common man, the poor, the working class, yet Chris Coons seems far more interested in lining the pockets of his wealthy neighbors at the expense of the working class who will have to fund his extravagances, WHILE seeing services cut.

We thank the Green Delaware, a “good government” site for exposing the fundamental bad government that Chris Coons represents, not by words, not by promises, but by deeds.

  1. This article is being presented to offset the remarks about and try to scare the Democrats and Independents from voting for Coons for US Senator. Just because your girl O’Donnell is a wack job does not give you the right to make up any little thing that might just give her an edge. I do not want a WITCH or SATANIC worshiper as my US Senator… so deal with it!

If the Christian Right had any credibility they would be running away from her too but I imagine she has them under a spell (LMAO)!

Chris Coons will be Delaware’s next US Senator so deal with it!

    1. Your assault on Christine O’Donnell in your comment goes far beyond our accusing your Reid Pet, Chris Coons, of being a progressive rich fat cat lining the pockets of his rich friends on the backs of the working class…I am sure you don’t have a problem with that though

  2. I have a house on almost a half acre lot and it is 2400 square feet does that make me rich? I don’t think so and the ridiculous statement about the amount of money he paid for the house is not something that should be a big deal I hope he bought it for the $10.00 like is listed in the parcel search! Here’s the link to see for yourself:
    http://www.nccde.org/parcel/Details/Default.aspx?ParcelKey=155715

I think it was ignorant to list the address of the future US Senator in this article for any of the crazy right wing nuts to try something stupid to him or his family. I would like to see you remove this information from the article immediately.

    1. We didn’t orignally publish the address, but why should a public figure not have their public address listed- you leftists do these things all the time, and then call your SEIU thugs to show up on people’s porches to frighten them into your progressive agenda to ‘fundamentally transform’ america

  3. I am part of the working class of Delaware and I am proud resident and taxpayer of New Castle County and this county has accomplished a great deal over past 5 years or better with the lowest property taxes in the tri-state area (do your research) so unless you know what your talking about Delaware then you should keep your sights off of Delaware. My “assault” on Christine O’Donnell has facts to back them up along with several videos and what you are throwing out at Chris Coons is just low life and no facts…… just like a typical right wing nut. Apparently I have gotten to you other wise you would not be responding to my comments yourself!

Don’t worry I have contacted the Coons campaign and they will be in contact with you to pull it off your site! Let’s publish your address and see how happy you are when people start harassing your family and yourself.

“Thugs” is that the best you’ve got???

    1. Ken, being a shill for the liberal elite who think they own the rest of us, you are probably quite comfortable peddling their agit-prop nonsense. Why not let’s define what you MEAN by “right wing”- which I nor any staff nor this new site are in any way. I can define liberal and progressive as having more faith in managing for results by government programs than by free associations or the private market, and that fits you nicely. Acting as if not being raped in your taxes as much as the next county or state is, well, silly and does not console the poor working stiffs who are watching as liberals like you and your rich friend, Mr Coons, turn us all into “tax farms” for your huge social experiment in progressive anti-Freedomism. We are Freedomists, not “right wing” and to call us that is as as much an insult as it is a damnable lie.

  4. Take a look at Maryland and New Jersey (just over the state lines) property taxes then you will stop your ignorant comments. Get your facts straight!

    1. Ken, it seems to me that you are saying the following- if taxes are higher elsewhere, then it’s OK to raise them here, just so they aren’t as high as neighboring states.” The article did not state that taxes there were higher than this or that locale, only that the man in question has a “tax raising”instinct.

  5. Why don’t the reporters ask Coons about the Tweeds Park project which was just a disguise to get taxpayers to foot the bill for the parking and driveway to the fitness club?

    1. Really PureCarnagel, you are grasping at straws just like these guys. With all the issues that are against your candidate this is what you all have to come back with?
What is Christine going to do about jobs in Delaware ask her that she no answer for that. We’ve lost a lot of our manufacturing jobs due to the fuel prices, auto industry and the recession. I have not heard a word about that from her just those stupid tea bagging talking points.

  6. William R Collier jr,

Does this effect you I don’t think so. So why are you concerned about our taxes and you need to compare apples to apples and I am you are not. Property taxes are property taxes and if they are lower than other states than we are still doing well!

Why get involved in an out of State election besides for your political agenda?

    1. The Freeedomist has documented why this election is the most important election in the whole country this election cycle as it will immediately seat the winner. A Christine O’Donnell victory will stop the Obama Progressive Machine from completely “fundamentally transforming’ our nation, using the Lame Duck Congress to pass more far left programs down our unwilling, still free throats.

    1. That so-called bipartisan committee is a shill group for Leftists like you. They are about to be sued for libel and slander. Perhaps you should cover that, if the government masters you seem to cry out for will let you.
